CORAL GABLES, Fla. - - Senior right-hander Enrique Garcia struck out five in three innings and freshman Iden Nazario hit a three-run home run to lead the University of Miami baseball team to a 12-5 win over Indian River Community College in a 10-inning fall scrimmage game at Mark Light Field Friday night.

Garcia led the pitching staff which struck out 11 and walked two batters. Sophomore right-hander Michael Rudman tossed three innings and allowed one run on two hits and struck out four. Carlos Gutierrez pitched three innings and Kyle Bellamy pitched the final inning. Mark Sobolewski drove in three runs for the Hurricanes.

Indian River scored two runs in the top of the first inning. Nazario put the Hurricanes ahead 3-2 in the bottom of the second with his three-run homer in his first at-bat.

Miami led 4-2 before Indian River tied the game, 4-4, in the top of the sixth. The Hurricanes scored four runs in the seventh and four runs in the eighth to take the lead for good.

The Hurricanes will scrimmage Barry University at 7 p.m. Saturday night at Mark Light Field.
